Salim Al Mawali

Process Control & Optimization Corporate Function Discipline Head (CFDH), Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO)

Salim Al Mawali is the process control discipline head (CFDH) for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). He started as an instrument engineer in 2009 before moving to become a process control engineer. Salim has worked extensively in troubleshooting, de-bottlenecking and optimization of existing plants. He also worked in designing many process control schemes for new plants. His particular passions are compressor control and Gas Breakthrough Control (GBC). Salim holds a BEng in control systems, a Masters and PhD in process control.


Fahad Al Kaabi

Instrument Engineer Manager, Oman LNG

Fahad has worked on the field of Automation and QMI for more than 20 years. He has a comprehensive international experience where he worked with several International and national companies like Oman LNG, Shell, Dow Chemicals, Orpic and Aromatics Oman. Fahd holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineer and TUV functional Saftey Engineer and PMP certification.

Mohammed Murad

Real Time Operations Team Lead, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO)

Mohammed Al Lawati Murad is a Real Time Operations Team Lead working in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) Smart Fields and Automation department. Mohammed holds BSc. In Electronics and computer systems and MSc. in Telematics (data networks). Mohammed has been working in the oil &gas industry (PDO) for 20 years, specifically in artificial lift systems, subsurface applications, collaborative solutions, smart technologies, SCADA systems and wireless solutions

Mohammed Al Mandhari

ICAT Engineering Team Lead, Occidental Petroleum

Mohammed is currently an Instrument, Controls & Automation Engineering Team Lead working for OXY. His career is over 10 years’ rich in experience with more than half spent internationally. Mohammed started his career in New Zealand working for CES Communications and Beca Consultancy being involved in various wind farm studies, protection and control design to substation upgrades and major projects like the Victoria Desalination Plant in Australia. He joined the oil and gas industry with OXY’s Instrumentation, Controls, Automation and Telecommunications team in 2011. He has been involved in fiber optic telecommunication’s infrastructure, process equipment design, fiscal metering stations, wireless instrumentation, alarm management, process analyzers, water treatment plants and steam injection projects. Moreover, for 2 years he was a key engineer in the Electrical SCADA/Power Management System project engineered out of Houston, USA.

Mohammed holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Hons.) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has completed a master’s level research in the topic Alternative/Renewable Energy. He has also achieved the Functional Safety Professional Certification from TUV:SUD.

Ali Zuhair Al Khaburi

Senior GRC Manager, Nama Shared Services LLC (NSS)

Ali Zuhair Al Khaburi recently joined NSS, a Nama Group Company and has been tasked with developing, implementing and maintaining Governance, Risk & Compliance and Cyber Security Governance programmes in NSS. In addition to this, he has also been tasked to work with Nama Group Companies in the area of Cyber Security.

Prior to NSS, he was the Information Security Lead in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) responsible for IT and OT Cyber Security as well as an advisor to the Ministry of Oil & Gas’s Information Security Team.

His career spans 15 years in IT Operations and Security ranging from Systems Engineering, Backup and Storage Management, SAP Basis and for the last 9 years has specialised in the field of Information and Cyber Security. He holds an MBA from West Virginia University as a Fulbright scholar and a BSc in Computer and Business Studies from the University of Warwick.
